Western Port announces 2020 coaching staff

WESTERN Port Steelers are excited to announce their coaching lineup for the 2020 Big V season.

The Men’s program will be led by former NBL Star Daryl Corletto in a player/coach role as the club makes the jump up to the league’s top division of State Championship Men. Daryl had the following to say on his appointment.

“I would like to thank the club for the opportunity to be a player/coach for the 2020 season, it’s a very exciting year for the club as we will be in championship men competition, this is a result of a lot of hard work over the last 2 years. This is a very exciting time for the club, and we look forward to building an exciting team that kids want to come along and watch, we want to build a culture and program for the whole club.”

Tyler Molloy will again be our Youth Men’s coach with the aim of continuing to build the young local talent he assembled last season.

On the women’s side we are pleased to welcome back coach Adrian Giblin who will take the reins of our Division One women’s program for 2020. Adrian has spent a few years as an assistant at Frankston in the SEABL competition where he worked under Simon Mitchell the now South East Phoenix coach.

To close out the coaching line-up Kristin Thornell will takeover as the Youth Women’s coach. Kristin comes to the Steelers on the back of 2 years coaching at Chelsea where she got the side to Youth League One. “I’m really excited to be given this opportunity to join such a great club and to be welcomed to the Steelers family. I am also looking forward to working with the women’s coach Adrian, my assistants, the youth girls and to continue to improve the development of the club’s youth. Looking forward to meeting you around the club”

News on tryouts and open gym sessions will be released shortly.
