The 2020 Two Bays Cup Fundraiser has been recognised as the most successful local derby, in its 12-year history, by the Western Port community.
This year’s cup was hosted by Western Port Basketball Association for the first time in three years and for the first time since the club was re-established in its new home venue at the Somerville Recreation Centre.
Western Port received an overwhelming positive response. The club’s volunteers who ran the day, the donations for raffle prizes, the local community and sponsors all dug deep and contributed to making it the greatest Two Bays Cup in the history of the event.
Game officials, players and supported also gave up their time and money to make the day a success.
Western Port raised over $3500 that was donated to Wildlife Victoria, The CFA and The Bushfire Appeal, all who been credible and hard working in the relief for those who have suffered in what can only be described as one of the most significant disasters in the country’s history.
For the basketball fans and supporters out there, the Steelers retained the Two Bays trophy, 3-1, using a points aggregate system.
The Steelers community express their gratitude to all of those who supported the event.
