Steelers finalise playing roster

The Western Port Big V Men’s side have rounded out their roster for season 2019 by signing 6’4 Blake Gallatly.

Blake has previously played Big V in SCM for the McKinnon Cougars and was a key part of their runners up squad a few seasons ago, as well as being a former Vic Country representative.  Since 2013 Blake has been playing both in the Big V and the Canadian University system.

Coach Luke Sunderland had this to say, “I’ve been lucky enough to coach Blake out of high school preparing him for college basketball and have stayed in contact ever since.  I’ve always been a huge fan of the way he plays the game and his attitude just as much as his on court abilities.  He’ll bring another element to how we can play the game as he his able to cause problems with his skill set and athleticism at both ends of the floor.  Blake is a real mismatch and will benefit our team as a whole.”

“I’ve known Luke since I was 18 when I moved to Melbourne for my basketball and we’ve had a solid relationship since. That’s a big reason why I’m excited to come and play under him again at Westernport. Being from the country myself I’m really looking forward to playing for a country association, especially with the momentum the club has at the moment.”

Blake arrives next week and will be ready to join the team for the rest of their pre season to prepare for their Round 1 matchup.
