Western Port Basketball has appointed Angela Heigh to the position of Youth League Women’s Head Coach for the 2021 Big V season.
Heigh is expected to bring a wealth of knowledge to the role after her previous experience as assistant coach to the Steelers Division One women’s team in 2019.
As Head Coach, Steelers General Manager Tyler Molloy believes Heigh will not only be an asset in the development of the Youth League women’s team, but will aid the growth of Western Port’s girls programs down to the grassroots level.
Molloy said, “Having someone like Heigh onboard for the development of our women’s program is invaluable. With her previous involvement, I think it puts her in a great position to propel the program forward whilst working with the senior women.”
Heigh has an array of experience to her name that includes an extensive playing career at the Big V level. She has coached multiple finals campaigns, featuring back to back titles in 2017 & 2018, and coached VJBL for over 12 years where she led teams to multiple VC championships, one year that included an undefeated season.
Heigh replaces Kristin Thornell, who decided not to return to the position due to heavy work commitments.
The rest of West Port’s coaching line-up for 2021 will remain the same as planned for 2020, headlined by their State Championship coach, Daryl Corletto, who will work alongside Youth League coach Tyler Molloy and Division One Women’s coach Adrian Giblin.
