Sharks sign Men’s import for 2020

Southern Peninsula Sharks have signed import Kavione Green for their 2020 Big V Senior Men’s Program.

Green, a 6’3″ Wing from New York, comes to Australia from Bloomfield University in the States.

His signing follows the announcement of another Bloomfield import, Claude Blue, who was selected to compete with the Sherbrooke Suns this season.

Green had a tremendous senior season at Bloomfield, averaging 19.3 points, 1.8 assists, 10.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, whilst shooting 41% from behind the 3P line. He finished the 2018-19 season as the 10th leading rebounder and 12th leading offensive rebounder in all of Division 2 Basketball.

These numbers, his performance in general and his team’s success led to Green receiving a number of end of season accolades including:

  • Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association D2 Player of the year
  • Selected for NCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball All East Region’s First Team
  • Central Athletic Collegiate Conference Player of The Year
  • Central Athletic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of The Year

Senior Men’s Head Coach, Lucas Allen, believes Green will be the perfect fit for the 2020 season.

“We could not be more excited to welcome Kavione to our team in 2020. Kavione’s ability to contribute in every way possible on the floor, particularly on the defensive end and through his relentless rebounding, are major reasons behind us signing him.”

Allen added, “Kavione has left an outstanding impression through all of our dealings. He is a pro, is a relentless worker, and he is clearly going to add to the culture and environment within our team.”

Green is set to arrive in Australia next Tuesday, January 28th.
