Knights In Pink Armour

Casey Basketball’s Pink Round will return Saturday night for its eighth year in support of Breast Cancer awareness.

The¬†‚ÄėBallin‚Äô¬†for¬†Breast Cancer‚Äô¬†Pink Round is an annual event that is hosted by¬†Casey¬†Basketball to raise both funds and awareness for the¬†Breast¬†Cancer Network Australia, or BCNA.¬†¬†

The triple header event will see Casey’s Youth Men, and Championship Men and Women compete in a special uniform highlighting the BCNA’s signature pink.

There will be live auctions, silent auctions, giveaways and the drawing of Casey’s Lucky Number competition winner who will go home with $2,000 cash.

With the event unable to be run in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Casey Cavaliers representative Ashley Szalek is expecting a heightened turnout to support the worthwhile cause.

‚ÄúThe grandstand will be out and we‚Äôre expecting a large crowd,‚Ä̬†Szalek¬†said. ‚ÄúWe encourage all attendees to wear something pink, something as small as a ribbon or go all out to show¬†your support and wear an entire outfit.‚Ä̬†

‚ÄúBreast Cancer has affected many within our basketball community and this is an opportunity to support many loved ones within the¬†association and use our platform as an opportunity to raise our voice on an important cause.‚Ä̬†

Casey Basketball supports the BCNA, Zaidees Rainbow Foundation and the YMCA Open Doors Program each year through its Big V program.

Szalek said the importance of their Pink Round continues to grow each year and highlights the opportunity Big V associations have to give back.

‚ÄúBasketball¬†associations are made up of many thousands of individuals and the¬†Casey¬†Cavaliers Big V program represents the¬†associations at one of the state’s highest levels,¬†

“It’s important to use this platform to reach the wider community and give opportunities for everyone to get involved for these great causes,

‚ÄúThe support from the wider basketball community is greatly appreciated and we would love¬†their¬†help, even it is simply sharing this type of information on their personal socials to help raise the awareness and funds.‚Ä̬†¬†

Ballin’ for Breast Cancer will feature games every two hours this Saturday 8 May from 4pm at Casey Stadium.

If you’re unable to attend the game, you can purchase a lucky number online or donate directly to the BCNA.
