Jacinta Beckley returns to Sunbury

The Sunbury Basketball Association’s State Championship Women’s team has announced the re-signing of Jacinta Beckley for the upcoming 2021 Big V Season.

The sharpshooting Guard/Forward, who hails from New Zealand, has proven basketball experience within New Zealand and beyond the boarder.

Beckley first joined the Sunbury Jets in 2019 after playing in Hungary’s BEAC Ujbuda. Her playing history has seen her compete with the New Zealand National Team in 2015 and 2018, play in New Zealand’s WBC for Hutt Valley Flyers and make her mark on the U.S. college scene with Seattle University.

In 2019 Beckley assisted with the growth of basketball in the Sunbury region by attending a large number of junior programs.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, she returned to New Zealand but kept in regular contact with Sunbury Basketball Association’s coaching staff, expressing interested in returning to the Jets.

Now officially re-signed, Beckley can prepare for a season with Sunbury that is sure to deliver nothing but high expectations.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Sunbury and reuniting with everyone after so long,” said Beckley.

“I feel like we, as a team and club, have some unfinished business and I’m ready to get to work!”

Head Coach of Sunbury Women’s, John White, said Jacinta fits the club’s mantra perfectly and will elevate his team’s game this Big V season.

“I was ecstatic when Jacinta let me know she was coming back,” said White.

“After a really productive pre-season with her last year and then the false start from COVID-19 stopping her from getting out on the court, I’m excited to see what she can do this year!

“Having Jacinta back at the Jets will bring more IQ and stability to our front-court. On top of that, she’s been working hard back home and is in amazing shape so I can’t wait to see what the next level of her game look likes.”

The club is looking forward to having Beckley back in the community and she is expected to make an impact this Big V 2021 season amongst the competition.
