First rounds of Big V 2021 unveiled!

The Big V has released the first rounds of its new 2021 season fixture, featuring the details of Rounds 1 and 2, as the league returns after its 2020 cancellation.

The 2021 Big V season will officially tip-off on Saturday March 13, with the first games being played from 4pm, including match ups of Dandenong v. Ballarat in VYCW, and Casey v. Hume City and Camberwell v. Altona in YL1M.

The opening rounds of the season are jampacked, with 82 contests in Round 1 across Victoria.

A new addition for the 2021 Big V season includes the live-streaming of all Championship Men’s and Women’s games.

The aim of this is to maximise viewership of the Big V league and to expand the accessibility to follow games across the season

Big V Competitions Manager, Jeff Downes, said this first drop of Big V fixtures is sure to get fans riled and ready for a season well waited for.

“I am definitely most excited to see athletes back again, playing and enjoying the sport we all love in a team environment,” Downes said.

“We thank all of the Big V community, from players to coaches to referees and volunteers, for their understanding of decisions undertaken in 2020,

“With this first release of scheduled games for the season, it shows the season is truly moving forward and returning to, what we all know as, Australia’s largest senior representative competition.”

Downes also said he is looking forward to the new live-streaming tool allowing Big V’s audience and community to grow in the public eye.

“We are overjoyed to commence the new initiative of all Championship Men’s and Women’s games being live streamed and accessible for all,” Downes said.

“The league provides the development for the next generation of elite Victorian basketballers, and this is something I think we’ve all missed in the last year.”

Registrations and clearances for the 2021 Big V season are also officially open to players, coaches and team managers today.

The Big V season will tip-off in 24 days and Championship livestreams will be accessed via the Big V website.

Full 2021 season fixtures are expected to be released in the coming week.
