Blackburn Vikings have officially announced the signing of former NBL player Chris Patton to join their Championship Men’s team in 2020.
Moving from the Kilsyth Cobras, Patton is expected to bring a wealth of experience to Blackburn’s Big V team over the next two seasons.
The centre’s extensive playing history has seen him work his way up the ranks on a state, national and international level; his prior experience including the likes of NBL’s Melbourne United and Cairns Taipans.
Following his time in the NBL, Patton has carved out an exceptional SEABL and NBL1 career.
Vikings Head Coach, Matt Brooks, said Patton’s knowledge of the game will not only help to accelerate his own game, but will assist younger athletes to grow as athletes themselves.
“Chris is an exciting addition to our roster and will be a big part of our program moving forward,” explains Brooks.
“His wealth of experience will be invaluable for our playing group, and I look forward to getting to work with Chris in the new year as the team prepares for the 2020 season”.
Patton is set to provide a prominent presence in the black and orange, which could shape Blackburn’s line up after finishing second from the bottom in 2019.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what our group can achieve for the 2020 season and beyond, it seems like Matt’s putting together a really good bunch of guys,” says Patton.
“I’m from the South East of Melbourne and always love representing my area and grass roots. Blackburn seems like a family friendly club and I’m excited to meet all the juniors and hopefully pass on some of knowledge while getting some wins.”
Patton is expected to take the court when Big V returns for its 2020 season in March.
