Arcangel to head up Collingwood’s Youth Women

Collingwood All Stars have appointed Anthony Arcangel as Head Coach of their 2021 Big V Youth League Women’s team.

With over 20 years coaching experience, Arcangel is a seasoned mentor and highly regarded coach, particularly in and around Melbourne’s Diamond Valley area.

Following several years as a VJBL coach with the Diamond Valley Basketball Club, Arcangel most recently worked at the Big V level with clubs including Coburg Giants, Diamond Valley Eagles and Bulleen Boomers.

Arcangel replaces former head coach, Lauren Ibbott, who took Collingwood’s Youth League Women to the finals in their inaugural season.

All Stars President Tony Corr said the appointment of Arcangel reaffirms Collingwood’s strong commitment to providing player pathways through the Big V program.

“The Big V program provides an important opportunity for open age All Stars players to continue playing senior basketball at the very highest levels,” Corr explained.

“We are delighted with Arcangel’s appointment and providing opportunities for the many talented young women at our Club.”

Arcangel believes this new venture in his coaching career will bring new talent of Collingwood’s athletes to the attention of the Big V community.

“I have had the pleasure of watching both the senior and youth All Stars Women’s Big V teams in the past,” said Arcangel. “They are wonderful teams and the Youth League team was particularly impressive, demonstrating a great mix of skill and athleticism.”
