Western Port announces 2019 head coaches

Western Port has announced its Big V head coaches for 2019.

Western Port is thrilled to announce the re-signing of Luke Sunderland to the Division One Men’s team.

Sunderland had a stellar first season in 2018, falling just short in a three-game semi-final series against Chelsea and will look to go a couple of steps better in 2019.

James Langford will similarly return to the Steelers but in a new role as he jumps across to the Youth League Women’s team following four years with the Men’s Youth team.

Western Port would like to welcome the new additions of Warren Heigh and Tyler Molloy to their coaching line up for 2019. Warren has signed on for our Senior Women’s Team whilst Tyler will be the Youth League Men’s coach.

Warren is a well-recognised name and face around the Big V community having been involved around the league for over 10 years at both Mornington and Warrandyte, across many divisions.

Tyler is no stranger to the Steelers community having played 200-plus Big V games and being a MUVJBL coach for the past eight years, as well as an assistant in 2018 for the Youth Men’s team.

“I’m excited at the opportunity to provide a pathway for our juniors in to senior basketball and the ability provide knowledge on my experience at the Big V level,” Molloy said.

Information regarding any tryouts and training sessions will be released soon.
