The Chelsea Gulls Division One Women are pleased to announce the signing of their female import for 2019.
Gonzaga NCAA standout Shaniqua Nilles will be heading to the home of the Gulls and set to make a splash in the 2019 Big V season.
At 1.83m in height, Shaniqua will be a difficult customer for opposition teams to match up on. Her achievements have been outstanding after being inserted into the starting 5 in 2015-16 and has most recently been carving out a pro career in Germany playing for Avides Hurricanes Rotenburg where she was also in the starting 5.
“I’m excited to continue my career in Australia and join the Chelsea Gulls family,” Nilles said shortly after her appointment.
“I’m looking forward to competing, growing with my teammates and teaching the next generation of athletes.”
Gulls Division One Women head coach Paul Graham can’t wait to see what Nilles can bring to both team and organisation as a whole.
“I’m really looking forward to welcoming Shaniqua to Chelsea. She will be able to play multiple positions for us and with her size and scoring ability, she will be a tricky player to guard for her opponents.
“She brings with her experience and professionalism, after spending 4 years at Gonzaga and playing professional basketball in Europe. She is passionate about the game and is looking forward to sharing her experience and knowledge to her new teammates and most importantly Chelsea juniors. Shaniqua possesses the qualities and values that are important to us as a team and club and can’t wait to see her ‘Fly With Passion’.”
