Cougars ready to pounce in #BIGV18

The McKinnon Cougars have announced their slate of imports for season 2018.

Returning SCM import players Dillon Stith and Dondray Walker along with SCW player Ariel Thomas will be joined by Megan Kritscher for the coming 2018 season. Megan played in Australia last year for the SEABL Nunawading Spectres having graduated college in 2013 and then played 3 years in Europe before heading to Australia last year.

Megan had this to say about her appointment,

"I am looking forward to playing for McKinnon because I have heard great things about the program and that it is like one big family. I am excited to play for Coach O'Brien, we have had some great conversations on the phone and he seems very knowledgable of the game and a fun person to play for. Playing for the Spectres last year allowed me to fall in love with Australia and the city of Melbourne. There is a great culture there and it is a beautiful city with so much to do around it. Although I'm halfway around the world it doesn't feel too far from home."

The Lady Cougars will look very different from top to bottom, with new Coach Paul O'Brien starting with a clean slate. He has made many signings to complement the returning players and we are excited to see them deliver next year. The full roster will be announced in a few weeks time.

With most of the men's team returning they will be looking for a more consistent season after a year of playing together. Coach Justin Nelson said "Last season we largely brought a new group together, and having now spent a year getting to know each other I hope it will position us well for the season ahead."

"Continuation with our imports is a good sign as well; both Dillon and Dray are terrific young athletes and represent the club with passion and commitment."

"Having made finals last season, I'd like to think we will again push for finals and hopefully take it a couple of steps further."

Both youth teams are into their preseason and are looking different with new coaches to both teams.

The Cougars will once again travel to Tasmania late February following on last years weekend success. Thank you to Basketball Tasmania for this opportunity, it's a great experience and time spent together as a program is really beneficial on and off the court.

Go Cougars!
