Wildcats re-sign All-Star

07.03.2017

The Eltham Wildcats are pleased to announce the re-signing of Ben Waldren for the 2017 Senior Men Championship Big V season.

Averaging 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists per game in his first season as a Wildcat; Ben flourished under the tutelage of Coach Trev Lee which saw him win the Big V All Star Five Award in 2016.

Waldren has high expectations for the 2017 season.

“I’m very grateful to be able to play another season at Eltham. I’ve really enjoyed myself on and off the court since I came to the club and I’m looking forward to hopefully another successful year.

“We closed the season with an amazing streak and I’m expecting even bigger and better things from us as a team.”

After a game three loss to Corio Bay in the Preliminary Finals last year Coach Trev Lee believes Waldren’s attributes will play a key role this season.

“We are excited as a group to have Ben back on board. He is a quality person both on and off the court. He brings a point of difference for us which was shown last season. A tough competitor and a match up nightmare for opposing teams Ben fits well within our group, we look forward to what he can do in the 2017 season”.

Eltham have also retained the services of their core group including former NBL & SEABL big man Chris Cameron and Justin Aver who is back in form after suffering a major injury in 2015. The season tips off on Saturday March the 18th when our State Championship Men and Women head to Diamond Valley to take on our local rivals. The women tip off at 6:00pm followed by the men at 8:00pm.
