20 December 2016 - MELBOURNE: After a successful debut in Shepparton, the Big V Origin All Star Series shifts its attention from Country to Metro as the Casey Basketball Association set to host the 2017 event.
Big V CEO Julie Anderson is looking forward to seeing the All-Star concept event back in the metro region.
“After such a successful inaugural Big V Origin All Star Series in Shepparton, it’s now time for a Metro association to play host,” Anderson mentioned.
“The concept of Metro vs. Country will continue to build into the Big V’s greatest rivalry with another edition of the event.
“Casey is a great location to hold the event next year, fresh with its new look stadium which is well on the way to being completed.
“On behalf of the league, we look forward to working with the Casey Basketball Association in the new year to create a great product both on and off the court for basketball fans.”
The Casey Indoor Leisure Centre is set to host its biggest ever single basketball event as the venue is currently in the process of being redeveloped.
The centre is set to become not only the focus of the basketball landscape, but the sporting landscape for the area.
Redevelopment works are currently in place on the south-eastern hot spot, which will feature a 1,500 seat capacity premiere show-court which will showcase the Big V’s finest talent next June.
Casey Basketball General Manager Tammy Bower and her team, are excited to see the best of Big V on their association’s door step.
“Casey Basketball is excited to be hosting the 2017 Big V Origin All Star Series in its 8th year of league participation,” Bower explained.
“This event highlights how far we have come, from having a sole team in Division Three in 2010, to now boasting all four teams with one in the highest division.
“We look forward to bringing the entire basketball and local communities together to deliver a high quality event in the newly redeveloped facility. This event will showcase the best the league has to offer on our home floor in front of not only our home crowd, but the entire community.”
This event shows that basketball is a sport firmly in position within the city of Casey and will continue to grow for years to come.
An extensive crowd witnessed the debut of the concept in Shepparton, while over 2,000 live viewers watched from the comfort of their own home; the 2016 Big V Origin All Star Series was one of the biggest events on the Big V calendar this year.
In 2017, its set to go even bigger when the league takes to Casey!
The 2017 Big V Origin All Star Series will take place at the Casey Indoor Leisure Centre on 10 June 2017.
