Q&A With Darryl Macdonald

1.       Who did you enjoy playing with the most throughout your NBL career and why? I played with so many guys I can’t just pick out one.

2.       Who is the best player you have ever played against? Andrew Gaze.

3.       What was your greatest achievement during your NBL career? Winning 3 championships.

4.       Is it true that you never stretched before games? That’s not true, I always stretched before games the problem is I wasn’t flexible so when I stretched it actually didn’t look like I was stretching because I couldn’t touch my toes, I just stretched as far as I could  go.

5.       What do you plan to do with your life in the coming years? Try to continue to do what I’m doing, that’s just coaching, like I love the game, I love everything about the game I played it for 15 years and have been coaching for the past 5-6 years.

6.       What was it like playing with Lanard Copeland? We actually never played together, we played on the same team but very rarely were on the floor at the same time, it’s funny the one game we were on the floor together we ended up winning the game and actually played really well together. in the 3 years I was there we honestly never played together a lot because it was always I would come in and get him and then Corletto would come in and get Andrew so me and Lanard were never really on the court at the same time.

7.       Do you think you could still play NBL? Yes, if I got in shape I know I could.

8.       Who do you think is currently the best player in the NBL? Chris Goulding from the Melbourne Tigers. I see the work he puts in and I see what he does at training, but then to see him get on the floor and do the same things it’s really enjoyable to watch, he actually makes you want to watch the game he’s one of those types of players. If he continues playing the way he is playing he is easily up there in the MVP race, if you look at our games we wouldn’t be where we are without what he’s done.
