BYRON CARPENTER RETURNS AS YOUTH LEAGUE WOMEN’S HEAD COACH

The Frankston and District Basketball Association is pleased to announce the re-signing of Youth League Two Women’s Championship coach, Byron Carpenter for the 2020 Big V season.

Byron has lead the Youth League Women’s program for two seasons now, narrowly missing out on the title in 2018 – the clubs first season back in the Big V Youth League competitions.

“I am pleased to re-sign with the Frankston Blues as the Head Coach of the Youth League Women for 2020”

“As a group we have a big challenge ahead as we step up to the Youth League One level”

Byron touched on the improved pathway for Juniors and Youth League players at club in recent times, “it is a great opportunity for the players and myself to work with new NBL1 Women’s Head Coach, Belinda Snell”

“It’s an exciting time at Frankston with Senior finals appearances, great home crowds and a strong Junior Blues Program – I’m glad to be a part of it”.

DAVE HANKIN APPOINTED YOUTH LEAGUE MEN’S HEAD COACH

The Frankston Blues are proud to announce Dave Hankin as the Youth League One Men’s Head Coach for the 2020 season.

Dave has an extensive playing and coaching history which begins with the Frankston Blues as an U12’s player all the way through to his 286 SEABL games for the club.

Dave’s coaching resume is also extremely impressive having coached in our Junior Blues program from 2002-2006, a stint that saw him lead the U16 Girls to a Victorian Championship title and a Junior Classic title in 2004.

Dave then went on to coach the Mornington Breakers Youth League Men’s side in 2015 and the Breakers Senior Men’s side in 2016 and 2017.

“After being part of the junior program for the last couple of years, and seeing the way the kids are being developed, I think the senior programs are only going to get stronger as the kids come through”.

“I’m Looking forward to working with Harmsy (Andrew Harms) and Jacko (Adam Jackson) to give our Youth League Team a realistic pathway into NBL1, and being part of an extremely professional program”.

Basketball Development Manager, Jarryd Moss is excited about Dave’s appointment;

“Dave came highly recommended to us from a number of key stakeholders within the club”

“This group has been very lucky to have Glen Eames guiding them throughout the first two years back in the Big V competition and we feel as though Dave is the perfect person to take them to that next level”

“Any time you have a person of Dave’s experience, both as a player and as a coach, return to a leadership role within your club – it’s a good thing”.

Frankston Blues will be holding tryouts for their Youth League One Men’s side on Sunday the 6th and Sunday the 13th of October from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Frankston Basketball Stadium.
