Basketball Victoria’s senior basketball competition, Big V and Dandenong Basketball wish to advise the withdrawal of the 2018 Big V Pre-Season Tournament from the 2018 Big V calendar.
Due to a decline in demand for this event, Big V – in conjunction with Dandenong Basketball Association – will not operate the tournament in 2018 and will instead coordinate with associations to make alternate pre-season plans for any affected teams.
The Dandenong Basketball Association will be in contact with all associations that registered teams for the 2018 Big V Pre-Season Tournament, with an opportunity still provided for facilitated practice matches on Sunday 11 March if they wish. Furthermore, as priority Basketball Victoria will aim to establish through discussion with Association coaches if there is ongoing demand for facilitated practice matches over the pre-season period to be coordinated by the league in the future.
If so, further discussion would take place surrounding what the most attractive optimal model for all Associations to participate would look like for 2019 and beyond.
The 2018 Big V season tips off 17 March with the league featuring 145 teams across 47 associations, participating in the largest senior basketball competition in Australia.
