Blackburn announce 2019 Big V coaches

The Blackburn Vikings Big V Coaches will remain unchanged for the 2019 Season.

Fresh off a Grand Final berth with the Division 2 Women, Peter Buckle will return for his third season as coach, and will be looking to go one step further in 2019.

After blooding much talent in 2018, Daniel Jaunutis returns as the Youth League 2 Women’s Coach. Daniel was able to lead a young group which included a number of our Under 18 and some of our Under 16 players to the Youth League Finals in 2018 and will be better for the experience in 2019.

Glenn Rees will once again lead our Victorian Youth Championship Men, in addition to this, he will step into the role of the Under 18-1 Boys coach in order to create a pathway for our juniors into the Men’s Big V Program.

Rounding out the appointments is State Championship Men’s Coach, Paul Lankford. Lankford was able to oversee the transition of the Vikings back to State Championship Men, winning 5 games and finishing the season off strongly. The team will build on the experience of the 2018 season and look to push up the ladder in 2019.

Vikings President, Dave Zennaro, believed stability was the key. “We are fortunate enough to not only have some coaches with great experience, but also club first people involved in our senior program. We will make some subtle changes, but on the whole, we believe have the right people involved and look forward to 2019 with a great level of stability and excitement.”

Advertisements for Try Outs and Big V Assistant Coaches will be available in the coming weeks.
