The Sunbury Basketball Association is pleased to announce its Senior Men’s Coaches for 2019 and beyond.
Youth League One Men
It is with excitement that the SBA announces that Josiah Smith has been appointed to the position of Head Coach of the Youth League One men from 2019 to 2021. Josiah is a product of the Sunbury junior program that played representative basketball as a junior and then transitioned into a rep coach shortly after his junior career finished.
Most recently Josiah has been a lead coach with the Sunbury State Performance Program and also leading the U21 Jets VJBL team for the past two seasons. After cutting his teeth as an Assistant Coach with the Division One Men’s team in 2016 and helping the men make their first finals appearance in over 8 years. Josiah shortly transitioned into a lead Assistant role with the State Championship Women and was a part of back to back championships with the women’s program in 2017 and 2018.
The SBA is confident that the Youth League Men’s program grow and develop under Coach Josiah’s direction and we wish him the very best in his new role.
Furthermore, the SBA would like to thank Lisa Townsend for her valuable time as Head Coach of the Youth League Men and wish her all the very best as she embarks on a new adventure with the Mildura Heat Basketball Association as their General Manager.
Division One Men
The SBA is also pleased to announce the reappointment of Ryan Addison as the Division One Men’s Coach for the 2019 Big V season.
After a tough 2018 season and having to rebuild the Division One Men’s program from almost scratch Coach Ryan did all he could to put a competitive team on the floor each week. There is no doubt that injuries and players being unavailable due to international commitments made it a disrupted campaign for the men.
However, with the recent announcement of Ish Sanders coming back and a few more players who will be announced shortly the men’s team is already looking very strong for the 2019 season.
Coach Ryan had this to say about his reappointment, “I’m excited to be reappointed and to have another season coaching the men’s program. With the squad we are putting together, the expectations are going to be high, you will see an improvement in the win column and see an exciting brand of basketball.”
The club looks forward to seeing the men’s program progress and achieve great things in 2019 under Coach Ryan’s tutelage.
